if you want to sell as individual then you can sell online without any legal firm or company registration with your saving bank account but there are only some portals which allow to sell as individual like Ebay or shopclues etc.

Popular marketplace like Flipkart or Amazon are required the firm or company registration with the tax registration.

even you have to required the firm or company for the following reasons -

a) if you need current business bank account.

b) if you want to raise the invoice on any brand name

c) if you need the payment gateway for the online payments on business name.

d) if you want to hire any intent or employees then you need the registration.
