I believe a Limited Liability partnership routed through Alternative Investment Funds can work as an investment firm subject to certain conditions. There is no regulations in LLP act or SEBI which restricts such investments but as per my knowledge registering a LLP for the sole purpose for investing in such assets requires an approval/NOC from RBI and RBI has certain reservations issuing the same.
Even if it's possible in paper, RBI doesn't like the taste of investments flavoured LLPs so its better to go for a corporate structure for such type of businesses.
